Alafia! Welcome!
The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) is a reflection of the racial, ethnic and cultural diversity of Africans and African descendants. The research of traditional leaders, community members and university scholars are infused in the varied programs of CCCADI. Our exhibitions, conferences, performances, in-school and after school programs are mirrors celebrating the diversity of aesthetic experiences that we represent throughout the globe.
The innovative and unique programs of the Center continue to influence and are replicated in schools, community centers and art institutions expanding information to all communities celebrating the rich history, legacy and continued creative force that Africans and their descendants in the Americans represent.
Our traditions are vibrant, in constant change and being reinvented by our communities. CCCADI is a transmitter and creative force that promotes our multi-layered global creative experiences. From the sacred and contemporary art of West and Central Africa to its manifestations in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Venezuela, Jamaica, Trinidad, Haiti, Cuba and more; our history, traditions and popular expressions are honored in our programs. CCCADI is a direct mirror of communities and acknowledges the influence our creative aesthetic force on others.
These are exciting times for the CCCADI as we plan our move to the landmarked historic firehouse located at 120 E 125th Street. Our small brownstone has served us well. The larger facilities of the firehouse will allow us to expand our programs, as we will be based within our community forming part of the cultural corridor from river to river.
We are you - you are us and therefore the strength of CCCADI. Join us and be part of out next phase as we sustain and move forward.
Modupe! Thank you! Your participation and support have been critical to our growth. We look forward to you continued active involvement in out futire as a global community.
