Coupled, happily single or eagerly looking, celebrate the magic of #BlackLove on Valentine's Day with CCCADI!
Join us for a night of love, refreshments, and conversation with a special screening of the classic film, Love Jones!!! Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017, we are honored to screen a film that revolutionized Black love storytelling through the media of film.
Written and directed by Theodore Witcher in his feature film debut, Love Jones depicts the story of two young Black artists: Darius Lovehall (Larenz Tate), a poet and aspiring writer, and Nina Mosley (Nia Long), a photographer. After a serendipitous meeting, the two fall in love against the backdrop of Chicago’s vibrant Black community packed with a spoken word scene, reggae club, and Chicago style stepping. The film also features the acting talents of Bernadette L. Clark, Lisa Nicole Carson, Isaiah Washington, and Bill Bellamy.
