The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) proudly presents the 7th Annual Afribembé Festival, a vibrant celebration of African Diasporic culture, creativity, and connection. This year’s theme, Black Constellation: Mapping Our Joy, Dreams, and Liberation, invites New York City to gather in a curated soundscape of remembrance, joy, and release—connecting ancestral memory to future vision.
Returning for its second year in partnership with Harlem Week, Afribembé will take over the main stage at Grant’s Tomb on Sunday, August 10, from 4–6 PM, transforming public space into a celebration of spiritual resilience, ancestral memory, and Afrofuturist imagination. Hosted by award-winning artistMichael Manswell, the event is free and open to all.
CCCADI and Harlem Week are two institutions aligned in mission: highlighting the magic of Harlem and bringing even more magic to its streets. From the days of the Harlem Renaissance to the present, Harlem has been a beacon of Black excellence—a hotbed for creativity, joy, and resistance, and a home for the African Diaspora.
The festival features performances by Lollise, Loboko, Mfouambila Kongo Dance, and Nefer Global Movement, a dynamic lineup mapping a sonic and spiritual journey from the Motherland to the stars guided by our MC, Michael Manswell.
Festival-goers can explore CCCADI’s Ọjà Marketplace, supporting CCCADI’s longtime mission, and engage with the Family Village, a space for youth-centered cultural activities, art-making, and community learning.
Rooted in CCCADI’s history as a cultural steward and inspired by El Festival de Santiago Apóstol en El Barrio (the Loiza Festival) Afribembé continues a legacy of honoring Diasporic traditions while embracing radical joy and visionary futures.
Find your place in the constellation. Join us as we step into the magic, celebrate Harlem, and gather in community to dream, dance, and move toward liberation.
