A Look Back at “Our Road To Freedom: Jab, J’ouvert, Revelry & Resistance”

This past June 20th, CCCADI hosted its second annual “Our Road to Freedom” gathering, honoring the convergence of sacred energies in the air during this time of year: Juneteenth, Elegua’s Feast Day & the summer solstice.

This year’s event focused on Carnival as a ritual of liberation fueling our journey to freedom. Our milestone 50th Anniversary exhibition “Jab, J”ouvert, Revelry & Resistance”, curated by Know Your Caribbean, served as the unifying thread, weaving a full day program seamlessly into a celebration of the joy and resistance encoded in Carnival traditions throughout the African Diaspora.

We are grateful to the community that showed up, walked with us, and continue to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with us: Carrying a 50 year Legacy of Justice, Joy and Resistance into the Future takes a village.
